I was about to turn on my phone and read out of my bible app and God stopped me and said No. It was in the middle of the night, and I had not been able to sleep because I kept coughing from being sick. I heated up some honey and chamomile tea to drink and sat down to read when God stopped me. He wanted me to be still with no distractions. To simply just be present. I thought of how extremely hard that is for me to just sit there with nothing in my hands. Not working or striving to be better or do better. Not looking for what I wanted to write on my next blog post. Just simply being still in His mighty hands.
Obediently I sat there. With nothing to do or say. Honestly it was awkward at first being in pure silence with nothing to do but then it started to feel peaceful. Having nothing to say or do became comforting.
God wants to fill you with His peace. If only we could let, go of all our distractions. To simply be obedient when we get the feeling that we need to STOP. To stop and rest our minds from work, books, tv, games, chores, and life. When God calls us to put things into perspective. All this striving, keeping busy and always doing something is good but does not take the place of God. God continues to show you and I that we need balance. We can work hard and strive to be better because these things are good for us. We can also know how to stop and simply be still.
Don't miss God's peace because you were busy. I encourage you when you feel busy, tired and overwhelmed to listen to God and be still. To hand over what is in your hands into God's hands. In Psalms 46:10-11 it says: He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” The Lord Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.
I hope this encourages you to sit and be with God right now in your circumstances. Reach out to him because He is right beside you even if you don't feel He is.
God bless
